Hi, my name is Lianacris Uy Panaligan and I am your Miss Asian Chicago 2023 Crowd Favorite!
From the suburbs to the city of Chicago, I am so thankful to be a part of this community. As a minority and a once shy nerdy girl, I grew up so hesitant to be myself. Since then, I’ve always dreamed of a space where all are welcome. One where we can embrace who we are, no matter where we are and where we come from.
I had never been in a pageant before. I joined Miss Asian Chicago to build my confidence, to grow as a woman and to learn what it means to fully embrace my own passions and being AAPI. From our one on one meetings to rehearsals and workshops, our pageant director and coach, Victoria Ng, helped me grow from within and showed me how to step out of my comfort zone, step by step. Participating and learning alongside my pageant sisters was a life changing experience. It was through everyone’s love, support, and in caring for each other, our sisterhood, that I learned how to become a better version of myself.
As your Crowd Favorite it is so meaningful to me to have this support from friends, family, and everyone that I have met along the way because without you, I cannot be who I am today.
My mission is to elevate my platform around building confidence and self awareness through dance and speech, because only by knowing ourselves can we know and help others. I look forward to attending and volunteering at more community events throughout the year, as well as doing my part in helping build awareness around what we all have to offer! From the city to our growing community in the suburbs, there is so much we can do when we work together. I hope that we can all connect with each other, embrace our talents, and support one another as we continue to define ourselves and our changing generation.
