What's something memorable about you?

I’m a fashion designer who loves vintage, thrifting, and cosplay! I have my own brand named MEGYWONG which you can find on instagram and in store at Lost Girls Vintage. I focus on creating whimsical feminine fashion and accessories. Each piece is a handmade original design or an upcycled found garment. My brand primarily produces corsets and lingerie as well as releasing themed vintage collections in store each month. Currently in my free time, I am working on a conceptual fashion collection surrounding my experience as an Asian American and also having fun designing costumes for conventions.

Why did you join MAC? / What is your goal with MAC?

In participating in this pageant, I hope to be able to grow closer to new people in different environments and be able to immerse myself in a new Asian community. It is also my goal to gain more confidence in both myself and my work, not just visually but mentally – I have struggled with anxiety and fears of public speaking, and would like to take the chance to push myself beyond my comfort zone in order to grow.

What is your spirit animal?

My spirit animal is a capybara because they are peaceful creatures that are fun and playful, like to relax in the water, and be together with their herd.

What three things would you bring with you to a remote island?

Assuming I don’t need to bring survival supplies, I’d bring a good book to keep me occupied, lots of snacks, and a paper fan to keep cool because I don’t love the heat.

What's your favorite quote?

Bio -

I am currently 24 years old and I was born and raised in San Francisco, CA to Chinese immigrants. My parents were originally from Canton and Hong Kong so I grew up as a first generation Asian American speaking Cantonese. I have lived in Chicago for about five years as of 2024, first moving here to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and achieving a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree with a focus on fashion in 2022. I have occupied my time with various extracurriculars starting from when I was only six years old such as painting and drawing, playing the piano, and swimming. I enjoy romance and fantasy novels, watching anime and cartoons as I once wanted to become an animator, cooking and sharing food with friends, spending time with my pets, and designing costumes as a part of the cosplay community.
