What's something memorable about you?
I can do at least one pull-up. Two on a good day.
Why did you join MAC? / What is your goal with MAC?
To learn about and get more involved with the Asian community in Chicago through meeting new people and friends. And to motivate myself to keep growing and changing, instead of keeping stagnant.
What is your spirit animal?
My cat when I feed him at 7:17 pm instead of 7:15 pm.
What three things would you bring with you to a remote island?
A satellite phone and backup batteries haha.
But to answer seriously, a machete, first aid kit, and a metal bucket
What's your favorite quote?
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.” - Maya Angelou
Bio -
1998 - Michelle Kwan wins silver at the 1998 Olympics.
Sometime after the 1998 Olympics - I am born
2010 - I ask my parents if I was named after Michelle Kwan. My father tells me, “No, you weren’t named after her. We just gave you the same name because we were inspired by her success and wanted you to be successful like her.”
2024 - Hello! My name is Michelle and I am excited to be a participant in Miss Asian Chicago 2024! Although I’ve lived in the Chicago area most of my life and haven’t lived in the city itself (yet), I’ve always wanted to become more connected with the Asian community of Chicago and jumped at the opportunity to do so through MAC.
When I’m not working or writing up oddly thought up profile entries, I volunteer with a local cat rescue organization where I help foster cats find homes. My involvement with volunteering was motivated by the adoption of my first cats during the lockdowns and the joy they gave me. To date, I’ve helped over a hundred cats get adopted and hope to further raise that number!
Through this journey with MAC, I hope to learn, grow, and become more confident as a person. I also hope to contribute to the benefit of the program and my fellow contestants, even if it is just my flexibility from learning ballet as a child.
